Daniel Backes started his musical studies quite classically: at the age of five he received his first cello lessons from his father, a cellist with the Dusseldorf symphony orchestra. Although enjoying the instrument, he discovered electronic string and keyboard instruments, which became his true musical passion, at the age of 14. From this point on, he dedicated himself to the composition and production of music, ranging from short jingles to overtone choral works and complete movie scores. He also works as a cellist, pianist and singer. Since 1997 he has been collaborating with Peter Moslener as Backes & Moslener Musikproduktion, a very successful enterprise in the field of advertisement and TV. Together with Tobias Ellenberg he composed the music for various motion pictures, such as Nichts Geht Mehr, Kein Science Fiction, Die Liebe der Kinder.
