Martin Wester

1971 marked an important year in Martin Wester’s musical career: It was then that he received his first electrical guitar after having learned to play the piano and the guitar already. Soon after, he joined various jazz and rock bands. From 1977 to 1984 he studied musicology, harmonics and counterpoint at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz. In 1980 his band Armadillo Texas released its first album. The invention of the then-revolutionary Teac Portastudio inspired him to experiment with the possibilities of multitrack sound. Since founding the KLANGRAUM studios in 1985 (together with Bernhard Hering) he is mainly working as a composer of film music while remaining active as a musician in several band and solo projects.
