  1. Chatterbox

Lively conversations at dark wooden tables and ragged saxophone fragments condense into a busy murmur. Thick clouds of smoke are hanging over everything. A free-associating bebop solo on the alto saxophone fuels the atmosphere.

    Composed by Andreas Schulz

  2. The Butler's Secret

The killer is always the gardener, they say. Or is the butler hiding a dark secret? Lonely, drawn-out cello tones accompany images of human abysses and psychological dilemmas. Cold, scratchy, serious.

    Composed by Andreas Schulz

  3. The Swallow's Flight

Hundreds of swallows fly in crazy formations in an endless cascade of maneuvers in the colorless, densely clouded autumn sky. Buoyant soprano saxophone solo.

    Composed by Andreas Schulz

  4. The Dancers

Sculpture in motion: two dancers fly gracefully across the dance floor with their limbs intimately intertwined. Spirited alto saxophone solo.

    Composed by Andreas Schulz

  5. The Bellows

A blacksmith in a heavy black leather apron fuels the embers of a fire with slow strokes of an impressive bellows. Meditative, long low register notes on the double bass.

    Composed by Andreas Schulz

  6. Paper Planes

Notes leave the saxophone's horn one after the other and fill the space like paper planes, crossing each other in their trajectories and then descending to the ground. Slightly breathless alto saxophone solo.

    Composed by Andreas Schulz

  7. Blue Alley

Tuesday. Raindrops form puddles in a narrow alley between two rows of houses. Melancholic soprano saxophone playing.

    Composed by Andreas Schulz

  8. Fanfare for Kafka

In the so-called Pawlatschenhäuser, popular in the Czech Republic and Austria around 1900, Pawlatschen, a type of outdoor balconies, provide access to individual residential units. Soprano saxophone with a slightly mournful undertone.

    Composed by Andreas Schulz

  9. Extrablatt

Fire! In front the eyes of onlookers, hoses are rolled out on the ground. After a few pump strokes, they fill with water, which – thank God! – makes the inferno stop. Alto saxophone for dangerous situations and other urgent matters.

    Composed by Andreas Schulz

  10. Salty Dog

Cello improvisation with a searching vibe. A cello glissando that meanders through all the registers becomes steadily more consistent as it progresses.

    Composed by Andreas Schulz

  11. Fleabag

A floppy-eared old dog sniffs his way through alleys full of junk and picks up all kinds of scents. Odd and slightly askew tenor saxophone improvisation.

    Composed by Andreas Schulz

  12. Hedgehog Housekeeping

A hedgehog has nested inside a pile of leaves and is busy rustling around leaves and twigs. Performative and percussive playing on the cello.
