On May 8th, 2021, Liberation Day is celebrated in many European countries. On this day in 1945 the unconditional surrender of the German armed forces came into force, which led to the end of the Second World War. The day of remembrance is also known as VE Day, which is English for "Victory in Europe Day" and translates as "Victory in Europe Day".
